What does a servant leadership model look like?
- Servant Leadership is the skill of influencing others towards a common goal via high character. But how do we become servant leaders? Via authority!
- Authority (influence): The skill of getting people to willingly do your will because of your personal influence, but what is authority built on? Service and sacrifice!
- Service and sacrifice: Discovering and meeting specific and legitimate needs of people in your life, but how do we do that? With love!
- Love: Practicing patience, kindness, humility, respect, selflessness, forgiveness, honesty and commitment in every interaction we have . . . But how can we show agape with people in our life? Via Will!
- Will: Our unique ability as human beings to align our intentions with our actions and to choose our behavior (habits). Character Development.
Servant Leadership begins with WILL, which is our unique ability as human beings to align our intentions with our actions and choose our behavior.
With the proper WILL, we can choose to LOVE, the verb (agape), which is about identifying and meeting the legitimate needs, not wants, of those we lead. When we meet the needs of others we will, by definition, be called upon to SERVE AND SACRIFICE.
When we SERVE AND SACRIFICE for others we build AUTHORITY (Influence) which will lead to the law of the harvest. Once we build AUTHORITY, those we lead will willingly fight with us towards the common goal. Once we have this, we earn the right to be called SERVANT LEADERS.
